Seasonal Availability

Due to the great powers of science and greenhouses there are a lot of flowers which can be bought out of their natural seasons. But if you want them to be at their best in beauty and also best in price it is best to stick to those which are blooming in the right season for your wedding day.

All Year Round

Timeless classics, these flowers are blooming all year round so the date won’t affect your bouquet!

  • Roses – Comes in many different shades and shapes. Red, pink, purple, white, cream, yellow, orange and even green.
  • Gerberas – Bold bright colours of red, hot pink, yellow and orange or the softer white cream, pinks.
  • Carnations – Not just a filler flower, coming in many shades of pink, yellow, green, red, purple and white.
  • Orchids – Spider, Cymbidium and Singapore (Dendrobian) orchids coming in white, green, purple, mauve, yellow and pink.
  • Lisianthis – Soft fluffy flowers available in white, cream/lemon, pink, purple and lilac. Price fluctuates throughout the year.
  • Oriental Lily – White and pink blooms or a combination of the two shades
  • Tiger Lily – Smaller then oriental lilies and without fragrance they come in pink, white, yellow, orange and red.
  • Baby’s Breath – Botanical name Gypsophila has small white florets and works well with many flower combinations
  • Natives – Proteas, Laukadendrons
  • Others – Daisy, Freesia, Gladiolus, Iris, Lavender, Statice and Tiger Lily

 

Spring – September, October, November

Spring weddings are very popular, the weather is mostly great except a few showers and windy days and the flowers, oh the flowers!

  • Tulips – Long stems of pink, purple, red, orange, yellow and white.
  • Fruit Blossoms – Peach, Cherry, Apple and Pear Blossoms
  • Others – Arum Lily, Azalea, Delphinium, Hyacinth, Lilac, Lily of the Valley, Pansy, Billy Buttons and Ranunculus.

Summer – December, January, February

Roses are the popular choice for summer but there are plenty of other gorgeous choices available. Just remember the heat will cause your flowers to wilt faster so keep it in mind and try to put a water spray bottle in your car for location photos.

  • Peony – Available in whites and pinks. Imported during this season and sometimes unreliable so expect higher prices, and have a backup plan.
  • Calla Lily – Lush stems in bright yellow, orange, purple, cream and white.
  • Gardenia – White and ivories and a lovely fragrance.
  • Frangipani – In white or pink with yellow centres. The silk versions looks almost perfectly real if you crave this flower out of season, and looks great amongst real blooms.
  • Others – Agapanthus, Bird of Paradise, Seed Pods, Dahlia

Autumn – March, April, May

Coming in second to Spring, Autumn can be a busy wedding season. Make your Autumn wedding lush by using burnt oranges and red and adding some nuts and berries to bring it all together.

  • Gardenia – White and ivories and a lovely fragrance.
  • Tulips – Pink, purple, red, orange, yellow and white.
  • Gumnuts and Berries – Comes in silver, red, green, pink and black.
  • Others – Cyclamen, Dahlia, Delphinium, Hyacinth, Hydrangea, Kangaroo Paw, Snowberries, Scabiosa, Persimmons and Poppy.

 

Winter – June, July, August

The season may not be as good for choices compared to spring and summer but it still offers some great blooms. Using gumnuts and berries are also a way to make your bouquet stand out in this chilly season

  • Gardenia – White and ivories and a lovely fragrance.
  • Violet – A rich purple-blue flower with a totally unique perfume.
  • Geraldton Wax – White, purples and the dyed blues are great as a filler and also as the main attraction.
  • Tulip and Parrot Tulip – Pink, purple, red, orange, yellow and white blooms gives winter bouquets some great colour.
  • Daffodils – Famous for being yellow, they can also come in white, apricot and orange.
  • Gumnuts and Berries – Comes in silver, red, green, pink and black.
  • Others – Hyacinth, Hellebores, Sweet Peas, Poppy and Ranunculus.
